Scheduled

Starting 13 September 2018, we will perform a service-wide deployment of the Web Security Service 6.10.4.1 release, completing on 26 September 2018. During this maintenance event all services will remain operational and available.

New features and enhancements

  • SEP Logged in User Identification:
  • Provide seamless user identification when connecting Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) with WSS
  • Updated Policy Editing:
  • Fully redesigned Content-Filtering and Threat-Protection Policy editor with simplified rule creation as well as logical combinations (eg: AND, OR)
  • Risk-Level based Web-Isolation policy:
  • Customers with Web-Isolation licenses have access to Symantec Global Intelligence Network Risk-Level data feed for dynamic risk-based Isolation policies
  • Identified Provider Integration Services:
  • Support for SCIM integration to automatically populate user/group information

Customer Impact The following describes what happens to connected clients, depending on access method used:

  • Explicit proxy / WSS Agent / Proxy Forwarding:
  • The service automatically redirects connections to active data pods within the same data center or geographic location. This is for information only, and the customer does not need to take any action.
  • IPSec:
  • A short fail-over delay may occur as the load balancer directs traffic to another active data pod within the data center. This is for information only, and the customer does not need to take any action*.

*The creation of a backup tunnel to another data center (if not already configured) prior to the deployment is recommended for customers connecting to Oslo and Tel Aviv.

Service Impact This maintenance will be performed on all data pods within the service. Data Pods will be upgraded in rotation, preserving service at each data center at all times*.

*Oslo, and Tel Aviv will remain down while being upgraded.

Action required *The creation of a backup tunnel to another data center (if not already configured) prior to the deployment is recommended for customers connecting to Oslo and Tel Aviv.

Timing The maintenance window will run from 13 September 2018 through 26 September 2018. All maintenance will occur between 18:00 and 06:00 local data center time
