The scheduled maintenance has been completed.
Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.
We are pleased to announce that the Symantec Web Security Service (WSS) will support the following Localization Zones starting on September 1, 2021. This will be available to all customers at no extra cost. WSS Agent 7.4.2 or higher is required to take advantage of the new capability.
What are Localization Zones?
Localization Zones allow WSS to request content using IP addresses that match the country of the end user. This gives content providers the ability to return content in the optimal language for the user, better matching their native web experience. It’s important to note that content providers choose whether or not to localize their content and what localizations they support. Additional Localization Zones will be announced in the near future.
New Localization Zones
• Luanda, Angola • Gaborone, Botswana • Nairobi, Kenya • Lilongwe, Malawi • Port Louis, Mauritius • Maputo, Mozambique • Windhoek, Namibia • Lusaka, Zambia • Harare, Zimbabwe
How to Benefit From Localization Zones
WSS Agent 7.4.2 is scheduled to be promoted to Maintenance Release status on August 27, 2021 and is required to take advantage of Localization Zones.
Please carefully review the information below to take advantage of these localization zones and avoid disruption of service.
General Availability Date: September 1, 2021
Required Action
Please note that the new Localization Zones in Central and South Africa will use the following new egress IP addresses:
• 109.68.56.0/27 • 109.68.57.0/27 • 109.68.57.32/27 • 109.68.57.64/27 • 109.68.57.96/27 • 109.68.57.128/27 • 109.68.57.160/27 • 109.68.57.192/27 • 109.68.57.224/27
Third party applications that regulate connections by source IP address should be updated to accept connections from the new egress IP networks listed in the article to ensure traffic proxied through WSS can reach the applications. Failure to make these changes could prevent users from accessing third party web applications that authenticate users by source IP address.
